We’re all still waiting to see what punishment the NFL will hand down Cleveland Browns quarterback Deshaun Watson, but we’ve probably gotten an indication of how severe the potential punishment will be. Brown made a deal on Wednesday, Baker Mayfield sent to the Carolina Panthers for fifth-round pick. The selection could become a fourth-round pick based on playing time, and the two teams will split the money owed to Mayfield in 2022.

Now, if Browns are concerned about not having Watson around for much of the 2022 season, they may be more reluctant to move Mayfield. At the very least, you would think they would hold out for more compensation in return. I wouldn’t be surprised if we all get a clearer view of the picture soon.

As for Carolina, I don’t know if Mayfield made the Panthers a playoff team, but assuming he’s healthy, it’s safe to assume he’s an upgrade to the Panthers.

There is a sport tonight. Let’s bet on them.

hot ticket

Angels in Marlins, 6:40 p.m. | Television: MLB.TV

Latest possibilities:

Miami Marlins +140

  • main trendAngels: 5-16 in the last 21 road games.
  • Pick: Marlins (+140)

Are the Marlins the new Rays – a baseball team in Florida that the market seems to think is bad, even though they aren’t? The Marlins are 39-40 in the year, but their 15 running difference isn’t far from that of teams with much better records like the Toronto Blue Jays (+18), and yes, the Tampa Bay Rays (+19).

The Marlins are underdogs against Team Angels 37-45 and lost four in a row and seven of the last 10. Meanwhile, Trevor Rogers starts with the Marlins, and he’s been somewhat of a slasher (scientific term) in 2022.

Ohtani also works on the heater: He’s been allowed to run in his last four starts (26.2 IP) with just 36 strikes and six walks. The Angels have won all four of those starts, but their offensive is recently over, and Ohtani is backed by a bull run that has struggled for average performance most of the season. We’re having an uphill run tonight, but the hill isn’t as steep as the price suggests.

Here’s what SportsLine has to say about the game: I’m not alone in having a valuable insight into Marilyn’s family tonight, as the projection model sees it too. He also sees value in playing on the total.

Rise at Red Sox, 7:10 p.m. | Television: MLB.TV

Latest possibilities:

Under 9 years old

Selection: Less than 9 (+100) – The Red Sox offense has fallen into a rut, and I expect Tampa starter Corey Kluber and Rays Bullpen to be able to keep them there for at least another night. The Kluber wasn’t the battered bowler he used to be, but he still did an excellent job of pounding the hit area and avoiding the fleshy part of the bat.

Tonight’s wild card is the start of Boston’s Brian Bellew. Bellow, 23, is making his MLS debut, and his minor league numbers suggest he’s not the easiest person to contact. He’s hit 12.1 hitters per nine rounds across Double and Triple-A this season, but his control is touch and fly (3.5 walks per 9). As long as he’s not overly tense and runs down the field, it’s not crazy to think he can get the Red Sox through a few innings before turning the ball over to Boston’s recently well-performed game.

main direction: Less than 3-1-1 in the last five home games in Boston, and 3-1-1 in the last five meetings between these teams.

Cardinals at Braves, 7:20 p.m. | TV: ESPN

Latest possibilities:

under 8.5

Selection: less than 8.5 (+100) – Readers have long known that I’m drawn to the downside in matches between novices who limit home runs, and we have that scenario in play tonight at SunTrust Park. Atlanta player Max Fried has an above-average strike rate, elite walking rate and motivates a lot of ground contact. He also limited his opponents by a barrel rate of 4.5%. On the flip side, Cardinals player Miles Mikulas does a good job of limiting walking and keeping the ball on the ground. His barrel of oil price isn’t as great as Fried’s, but 6.1% is still flat.

Micholas’ ability to keep the ball on the ground and in the park will be in hand against an attacking Atlanta who ranks second in baseball in his home run rate. Both starters are backed by good defenses and two of the best bulls in the league. If that total drops to eight by the time you get to it, I’ll back out, but as long as it’s at 8.5 or better, that’s a solid bet.

main direction: Under 5-0 in the last five games at Atlanta.

? Sports day selection: The drop model says the best value on the board tonight is the game between the Red Sox and Rays, but while I told you to bet the total, the model says you should bet the money line.
