SiteGround Opens New Data Center in Spain

SiteGround, web hosting service, has opened a new data center in Madrid, Spain, the company announced in June. This is the seventh SiteGround data center to open in the world and the fourth to open in Europe.

When choosing a data center to host your site, it is best to choose a data center that is close to where the majority of your web traffic is coming from. Because of this, the new data center will better serve people whose traffic mostly comes from Europe, particularly from Spain, Portugal, Andorra and other neighboring regions.

Customers with a shared or cloud hosting plan through SiteGround can request to transfer their data to the new data center by going to Client Area > Market > Hosting Services > Hosting Transfer.

“Over the years, we have been developing our data center network by adding new geographies,” Daniel Kanchev, Product and Technology Lead at SiteGround, wrote in a blog post. “From now on, all new accounts for our Spanish customers will be created by default in our Madrid data center.”

In addition to the data center, SiteGround has also expanded its content delivery network service in Spain. A CDN is a group of servers that act as a unit to quickly deliver website content to a website visitor. SiteGround’s expansion of their CDN in Spain ensures that website load times for people around the world are minimal when trying to access content hosted from their new Spanish data center.
