The PGA Tour and LPGA Tour canceled their tournaments in Shanghai scheduled for October due to ongoing restrictions related to the COVID-19 pandemic.
HSBC Champions, part of the World Series of Golf, has been canceled for the third year in a row. It was scheduled to be shown at Sheshan International on October 27-30.
The Buick LPGA Shanghai was scheduled for October 13-16 at the Qizhong Garden Golf Club. It has also not been in operation since 2019.
Both decisions were made with the Chinese Golf Association, which approves the golf tournaments.
Thursday’s announcement comes as residents in parts of Shanghai and Beijing have been ordered to undergo further rounds of COVID-19 testing after new cases were discovered.
