Caleb Martin will stay with the Miami Heat. The attacker agreed, on Wednesday, to a three-year deal worth $20.5 million with the organization, according to what he reported Shams Al-Sharaniyah. The deal is fully guaranteed, per Anthony Chiang of Miami Herland, and will keep Martin in control of the team through the 2024-25 season.
Martin went without drafting in 2019. After spending the first two seasons of his career with the Charlotte Hornets, he signed a two-way contract with the Heat last summer. This contract was converted into a record deal in February. In 60 regular season games with the Heat last season, Martin averaged 9.2 points, 3.8 rebounds, 1.1 assists and one steal in 22.9 minutes of movement per game. The Heat were clearly impressed by what they saw from Martin since they decided to bring him back on a multi-year deal.
After Miami’s season ended at the hands of the Boston Celtics in the Eastern Conference Finals, Martin made it clear that he wanted to stay with the Heat, so he got his wish.
“I want to be here,” Martin said Miami, via The Miami Herald. “I’ve improved here and I think I will improve here. Obviously, I just want a great situation no matter what. But I just think about how close I am to the guys and people here, how much better and more confident I am here. I feel like my team and my staff They believe in me and believe that I will improve here.”
When it comes to his part with the team moving forward, Martin is ready to do whatever is required of him.
“I feel like I could be one of those guys who flips where it’s kind of the team that needs me,” Martin said. “If I need a guy who sits on the bench and brings energy and does those things, I can do that. I feel like I can step in and get started. It doesn’t matter the role or what the team needs from me, I feel like I can fill that void.”
