Basketball icon Michael Jordan will be the cover star of the NBA 2K23 specials.
On Tuesday, 2K announced the release of Michael Jordan and the championship version of NBA 2K23. Not only that, but Jordan’s legendary challenges return with this episode, where the goal is to recreate 15 legendary moments from Jordan’s career. Ten of these challenges come straight from NBA 2K11, while the remaining five will be brand new. Everything fits perfectly, given that number 23 was the (basic) jersey number for the six-time NBA champion.
“After making the number 23 the most memorable number in the sport, it was only fitting that at NBA 2K23 we presented the Michael Jordan edition,” Alfie Brody, vice president of global marketing strategy for NBA 2K, said in a press release.
Check out the screenshots below to see Michael Jordan’s models in-game. There are two different genres: one from the ’80s and one more akin to his ’90s look – the latter representing his famous era of playing Bugs Bunny.

2K has also confirmed that NBA 2K23 will be released on September 9, 2022. No information on the platform yet, but PS4, PS5, Xbox One and Xbox Series X | S, Nintendo Switch, and PC are safe bets. At least, out of the previous batch release pipeline. Fingers crossed for the Sega Dreamcast port.
Pre-orders for NBA 2K23 begin July 7, 2022. The Standard and Digital Deluxe editions will have another cover star that has yet to be revealed. 2K will reveal the athlete as soon as pre-orders go live.
If you somehow missed NBA 2K22, it’s currently free via Xbox Game Pass.
