Apple’s upcoming MacBook Air with M2 processor Finally Shipping Date. After waiting a little longer than usual, the new $1,199 laptop will begin shipping on July 15, with pre-orders opening July 8 at 8 a.m. ET. The 13-inch MacBook Pro with Touch Bar that was announced at WWDC 2022 is already available. While this familiar model was the first to come out of the gate with a second-generation chip, this MacBook Air offers plenty of new features, like a charger MagSafe, 1080p webcam, revised design with larger, 13.6-inch wide notch.
Although the new MacBook Air’s starting price is lower than its 13-inch Pro counterpart, it’s certainly the hottest and most unique of its kind. Unlike previous Air laptops, it shifts away from a wedge-shaped design to a more traditional slate and comes in a new, darker color.
The all-new MacBook Air with the practical M2
In our brief hands-on training with the pilot unit after the WWDC announcement, its thinness and airiness were immediately noticeable—it’s just 11mm thick and weighs 2.7 pounds. It now has a notch at the top of its larger screen, just like the 14- and 16-inch MacBook Pro with M1 Pro and M1 Max processors, although it looks a more attractive compromise compared to stumbling with the Touch Bar like the 13-inch Pro with the M2.
We’ll have to see how the new MacBook Air’s specs and designs deliver when we can spend more time with it, although on paper it seems to hold a lot of promise.
