Aerial footage from in and around Sydney showed homes, businesses and vehicles submerged in floodwaters on Tuesday (July 5).
Officials said hundreds of homes were damaged in the emergency caused by the floods that affected 50,000 people.
Emergency response teams carried out 100 rescues overnight to people trapped in cars on flooded roads or inside homes, after torrential rains caused dams to overflow and waterways to wreck their banks.
This is the fourth flood emergency in Sydney in 16 months.
