Welcome back to Found, TechCrunch where we get the stories behind startups.
It’s rare that we talk to someone who’s been at their company for 19 years, so this conversation with Matt Mullenweg from Automattic and WordPress sounds a little special. His journey to become a founder is centered on a love of blogging and working on open source projects. WordPress is now pretty much ubiquitous in the world of digital publishing. While he has been building WordPress into an undeniable strength, his parent company Automattic has made strategic acquisitions. One of the most notable companies to join Automattic is Tumblr for which Mullenweg has big plans. In this episode, he talks about why it’s important to keep all of these platforms open source and how he thinks Tumblr can start competing against Twitter.
