A new wide receiver for the Emporia State football team died Saturday after jumping off a cliff in Grand Lake in northeastern Oklahoma.
Delaware County rescue teams received an emergency call Saturday night and found a body in 31 feet of water. School officials confirmed 20-year-old Brixten Green He died in the accident.
“It’s a terrible day for football at Emporia State and a terrible loss for the Green family,” Emporia State football coach Garen Higgins said. “Brexten was a fantastic teammate who cared so much about this football programme. He showed his competitive spirit, work ethic and willingness to be with his teammates. He will always be a part of the Hornet football family.”
