HOUSTON (Associated Press) – Jordan Alvarez scored two wins in the ninth inning, and the Houston Astros beat the Kansas City Royals 7-6 on Monday for their seventh straight win.
Led by Kyle Tucker and Alvarez, the Western-leading Houston side wiped out a five-time deficit en route to their 15th win in their last 18 games. Tucker powered the Astros to eighth by three with a two-round single, and Alvarez fired a center-left shot against Scott Barlow (2-2) to bring home the No. 24.
Rin Stanek (1-0) scored the ninth goal without goals to win.
The Astros also won their last game on Sunday, using Homer Jeremy Peña’s two-time ninth inning playoff to seal a 4-2 victory over the Los Angeles Angels.
