This year, the two finalists in that tournament received automatic bids for the Olympics. The United States finished second after the Dominican Republic beat Guatemala on penalties earlier on Friday.

The United States and the Dominican Republic will play on Sunday in San Pedro Sula to determine the CONCACAF U-20 champion.

The Americans scored their three goals in the first half.

Paxton Aaronson, an 18-year-old midfielder who plays for the Philadelphia Union, scored in the third minute.

Alejandro Alvarado of FC Vezela scored the second goal in the 23rd minute.

Quinn Sullivan, who also plays for The Federation, added another player in 43rd place.

This is the first time a US men’s team has competed in an Olympic competition since the 2008 Beijing Olympics.

The 2024 Games will take place from July 26 to August 11. Sixteen teams will participate in the men’s tournament.
