The first season of the new USFL has arrived in the championship game, which takes place Sunday at 7:30 p.m. ET at the Pro Football Hall of Fame. The Birmingham Stallion and Philadelphia Stars both won their playoff games last week in Canton, Ohio, too, and will meet in a rematch in their week five regular season clash. Birmingham running back CJ Marable stole the show in that match, when he ran for 114 yards and landed in the 30-17 win. Playing only his second game as the starting quarterback, Philadelphia quarterback Kes Cocos threw for 215 yards, but couldn’t hit the receiver in the end zone.

Those who have played tournaments and cash games all season on DraftKings should have a handle on the names of both teams in the USFL DFS player pool, but who are the smartest choices for the USFL DFS lineup in the league title game? Before you make the USFL DFS picks for Sunday’s game, make sure Check out USFL DFS tips, strategies and forecasts from CBS Sports Fantasy and gambling editor RJ White.

USFL DFS Top Picks for Championship Game

One of the players White suggests considering your USFL DFS strategy is Birmingham pulling back on Bo Scarbrough. The Birmingham backyard has become more divided over the past few weeks with Scarborough gaining a slight edge in workload over Marble. Although he offered more lunch pail productivity than staggering numbers, he’s a tough runner who can command a quick power attack.

Two weeks earlier, in the Stallions’ 21-18 win over Tampa Bay, Scarborough tackled nine carriers at 38 yards. Marable had quickly landed in the win, but the following week, Scarbrough overtook him 11-9 and averaged about 1.5 extra yards per carry. J’Marr Smith is a double-threat midfielder so both runners have missed some opportunities for him, but Birmingham will want to keep Smith upright while pursuing the title, which should result in a more traditional game plan when it comes to incorporating Scarbrough into Haste attack.

One of White’s USFL DFS picks is Cookus. It was listed as a potential this week after taking a big hit in the third quarter from last weekend’s win against the Generals. Things looked a little scary after he flexed his arm back on a nearby bag which instead led to him being intercepted. However, the previous week against the same opponent in the regular season finale, he threw for 244 yards and two touchdowns.

Although he got an interception at that start, he also ran four times for 33 yards. Cookus started just seven games in the regular season, but finished fourth for most yards (1,334) and second most assists (12). Should Cocos lead the USFL DFS squad on Sunday, White also suggests considering Philadelphia receiver Bug Howard in a fluid position, who finished the regular season with the league’s seventh-most receiving yard.

How to assign USFL DFS formations

White is also targeting an undervalued player and is set to explode in huge numbers this weekend. That choice could be the difference between winning tournaments and cash games or going home with nothing. You can only see who’s here.
