THOMASTOWN, IRELAND (AP) – Adrian Meronk will lead by a narrow margin in the final round of the Irish Open as he seeks to become the first Polish winner in European Tour history.
Meronke, who has finished three times in third this season, took a third round of 4-under-68 at Mount Juliet to move up the crowded leaderboard on Saturday. The top 14 players are separated by four shots.
Meronke, who is 14 under par, is one shot ahead of England’s Jack Senior, Spain’s Jorge Campello and Paraguay’s Fabrizio Zanotti. Another hit is 2020 winner John Catlin and Espen Kofstadt after two identical rounds of 65.
The Meronic Tour included three ghosts and seven birds, including three in a row from the fifteenth.
Defending champion Lucas Herbert was adrift of the lead by three shots on 11 under.
The Scotsman David Law and the English quartet of Aaron Ray, Matthew Southgate, Dale Whitnell and James Morrison was 10 years old.
Former champ Shane Lowry, who cut the last four holes Friday for his shot, scored a third card of 68 to hit 7-under.
