Episode 7 of The Boys Season 3 airs today, which may not beat last week’s Herogasm, which was one of the most absurd things in the entire history of television, but it’s still very good. There’s only one more episode left before The Boys finishes season three of the eight, with the past two seasons having also been eight episodes.
And season four is coming up, maybe sooner than we thought.
Karl Urban made news by revealing that with season three nearing broadcast, season four is close to starting filming (via collider):
“Yeah, we’re starting I think on August 22, we’re going to start season 4. So I’m going back, and I’m bringing my butcher back, and I can’t wait. It’s a fun gang to play with, we work hard and we play hard, and I can’t wait to see where they take the characters from where We leave them at the end of this season.”
This quick start date right after Season 3 ended suggests that we shouldn’t have another long wait between seasons as we did in the pandemic era that broke up 2 and 3. To recap, we had:
- Season 1 premieres on July 26, 2019
- Season 2 premieres on September 4, 2020 (13 months later)
- Season 3 debuts June 3, 2022 (21 months later)

Once again, Season 3 has been pushed like All It shows due to pandemic-affected delays, so if we go back to a more normal shooting and production schedule, that means the Boys could get here in July of 2023. We also have The Boys based on college – coming also sometime in 2023, but We don’t have a specific date yet.
It’s hard to know if the Amazon version of The Boys will have a fixed expiration date. The comics ran six years between 2006 and 2012, but it’s already clear that Amazon wants to turn this into its Marvel/DC universe between a spin-off and one already animated series. So I wouldn’t be surprised if they continue to follow the comedic ending, or change it to make it happen. But so far, it sticks decently close to the source material.
I think we’ll see the occasional The Boys’ College in early 2023 and The Boys’ Season 4 by mid-2023, based on what we already know. And if this season is to last, he will probably get better from here.
