Israeli lawmakers voted early Thursday morning to dissolve parliament, marking the end of Israel’s first coalition government that includes an independent Arab party, and paving the way for the country’s fifth general election in less than four years.
Israeli Foreign Minister Yair Lapid, from the center, is expected to become the country’s interim prime minister at midnight under a coalition agreement. And it will remain so until the formation of a new government after voters go to the polls on the first of November.
