
Amazon Prime Video’s Watch Party feature, which allows you to watch a movie or TV show with your friends remotely, is now available on smart TVs, streaming devices like Roku, and game consoles like Xbox or PlayStation.
Prior to this expansion, the feature was available on desktop devices, Fire TV devices, and on the Prime Video app on iOS and Android. Now, you can watch titles with your friends through almost all types of devices that support Prime Video.
Amazon started for the first time Watch Party . feature test On Twitch with banners selected. The following year, after the Covid-19 pandemic began, the company introduced the feature as Watch Party on Amazon Prime Video. In 2021, it expanded Watch Party support to Fire TV devices, so you can enjoy social viewing sessions on a big screen.
“Prime Video Watch Party gives customers an immersive experience to share with friends, family, and other Prime Video users. A host can start the party by sharing their party link, allowing up to 100 people to join in the fun and chat throughout the show or movie,” the company said in a statement. Watch Party brings people together from our cozy living room.
Amazon isn’t the only company that launched a social viewing feature in the past few years. HBO has partnered with a browser extension called Scener and Hulu has launched its own simultaneous viewing feature for subscribers of its “no ads” plan. While Netflix had no such functionality, people streamed jointly watched titles through it Netflix party (Now renamed Teleparty) browser extension.
