Now iFixit has genuine repair parts for Google Pixels, from the 2 to the 6 Pro

In April, Google announced plans to join the expanded list of technology companies working with iFixit. Repair specialists distribute parts and tools to people interested in doing DIY electronics repairs, and starting today, iFixit offers genuine Google parts for a number of Pixel phones.

You can order what you need to repair everything from the Pixel 2 to the latest Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro, along with their install tools and step-by-step guides to walk you through the process. (Aftermarket parts are also available if you’re looking for an OG Pixel or Nexus.)

Now, if you have a cracked screen or a broken charging port, your choices are not limited to finding a repair shop or tossing the device in the trash. iFixit has all kinds of repair kits, and while they’re more expensive for newer devices — replacing the Pixel 6 Pro’s screen with a new, original one will cost $199.99 a set — they vary widely, often based on age. Cheaper parts for older hardware should help keep these phones viable as long as you are comfortable with supporting the Android software update they receive.

iFixit’s arrangements to distribute parts and tools already include companies like Microsoft, HTC, and even Valve’s Steam Deck. There’s also a partnership with Samsung in the works, and while we’ll have to wait for more details there, it seems unlikely that it will require delivery of the 79-pound package.
